Your Creativity & The Moon Cycles (Part 1: The New Moon)

MoonOften times, clients come to me with questions about their creative flow. They are particularly looking for ways to get back into the flow of their own creativity. They feel like they were in the flow and then suddenly they weren’t. Something feels amiss. They long to feel like they did when they first began a creative project, full of enthusiasm and excitement for what might unfold. Somewhere along the way, they “lost” it, and they can’t seem to find a way to get it back. Sometimes they seem a little surprised when I respond with: “When was the last time you looked up and asked the moon for help?”

Today begins a total Solar Eclipse and a New Moon! This presents me with the perfect opportunity to start an in-depth discussion about your creativity and how it relates to the cycles of the moon. When there is a Solar Eclipse paired with a New Moon you are presented with an amplified energetic opportunity. You can think of a Solar Eclipse as a giant reset button. The New Moon presents you with an opportunity to start something new, or refresh an old project. So in combination with the Solar Eclipse, you get a supercharged reset button to play with as you begin something new. Even if you are here with me in Las Vegas and can’t see it, that eclipse is still out there happening and that energy is available to us all!

Take a moment right now to ask yourself a few questions… How in tuned are you with the cycles of the moon? Are you surprised when you look up and suddenly notice the moon is round and full? Do you think, “Oh, look at that moon!” before casually forgetting about it again? Or do you track the moon, with your eyes and your soul. Do you feel its phases like the phases of your own psyche and emotions. Does your body swell when the moon grows full? Do you retreat into the darkness when the moon is in the shadow of the earth? Do you feel a closeness to the moon like your own inner knowing, like it is a part of you and you are a part of it, working in perfect synergy together?

This is the kind of relationship that the moon has to your creativity, whether you are conscious of it or not. When you make the choice to become aware of your creative source and understand what it takes to consciously create, you will become increasingly aware of the moon and its cycles. The mystery of it will become a part of your own creative flow, and the more you learn to harmonize with it and stop fighting against it, the better you will become at consciously creating. The more you can consciously create the experiences in your life, the more you become a part of the positive flow of life and the closer you become to reaching your fullest potential as a creative being.

Over this 29 day moon cycle which begins today I will be writing posts about the moon cycles and how they relate to your creative power. This is to give you a better understanding of how these cycles are already affecting you. I explore in further detail these cycles and how to work with them in my ABCs of Conscious Creating program, but for the purpose of this blog I will begin to introduce the subject so that you can at least become more aware of internal shifts that you may already be experiencing. The first part of any spiritual evolution is simply to become more aware of everything that is going on around you. Understanding the influences of nature and the cycles of the Universe we are a part of will help you to get more in alignment with the energy patterns of our living planet. When you become more aware of what is happening around you, you learn that sometimes you find yourself in the flow and other times you are out of the flow. Just having the skills to recognize this distinction can become incredibly helpful as you create your experience in this life.

So with that said, let’s begin at the beginning:

Creating Exercise – The New Moon

The New Moon, which starts today, is all about setting new intentions. This makes it a really good time to start a new project. You can use the energy of the New Moon to amplify your start-up process. If there is a creative endeavor you have been considering taking on, today would be the perfect opportunity to begin focusing your thoughts on it. Beginning a project is a very important part of the creative process. Take some time to reflect what it is you intend to create. Understand your reasons for manifesting this creation into the world. How will it affect your life or the lives of others? Focus today on the why and trust that the how will become revealed as you move into the next phase of your creative cycle.

The New Moon could be a good time to reflect and review a current situation. Even if you are in the middle of a project, it is never too late to get back in touch with the intentions you set at the beginning. Things may have changed since you first started, new information could have come into the light. If you are working on a longer-term project, your intentions may now need a few adjustments as you have learned more or uncovered more though the creative process. How many times have you gotten half way though a project and realized that it was beginning to develop into something entirely different? This is the perfect time to take a new objective look at where you are going with it, and whether or not the project is heading in the direction it needs to be heading in. It could be time for a big ol’ reset!

Your Creating Exercise for today is to spend a little time in reflection. Is there a new project you want to start at this time? Maybe there is a project that was shelfed that you might be ready to dust the cobwebs off of. If this is the case, take some time to reinvent it energetically as you bring it to the front burners again. Maybe you are in the middle of a project that has somehow lost its steam. Take a look again at the initial intentions that surrounded the project. What was the intent? How has the project developed so far? At what point did the umph” run out? What was the catalyst of that change energetically? Can you start over from the beginning again? Is there something you learned in the process of moving through the project that may shape how you continue with it at this time? Is there a shift in perspective that needs to take place to get it up and running again?

Whatever it is that you choose to work on, set the personal goal that you will see it out at least through the end of the month. Promise that you will give it your loving intention and energy to truly bring it to life. In three days, on March 11th, check back for my next blog post. I’ll talk about the next moon phase, which is known as the crescent. I’ll give you some pointers and as always feel free to comment below so we can help each other in the process. In a few days I’ll write a bit more about the Crescent Phase and how it relates to your creativity. Be sure to sign up for my email notifications to the right of this page so you don’t miss out on the future postings.

Until then, I welcome your comments and questions and get busy setting those intentions and hit that big (Solar Eclipse) reset switch! Yeah!

When you have your intention set, say it out loud, write it on a piece of paper and stick it to your wall, and please write it in the comments below… all affirmations are welcome and appreciated! Let’s get this party started! Happy New Moon! Whooo-hooo!

Your Creativity Coach,

Bonnie

P.S. My intention for this powerful Solar Eclipse / New Moon is to get people talking about Creativity on this blog! So please, comment freely… I’m hearing the Red Hot Chili Peppers in my head and I’m singing it out loud to the heavens above: “Give it away, give it away, give it away now!”
