Creating Tradition: Preserving Your Favorite Holiday Image

Christmas Tree Tradition

Last Christmas I was so happy to be able to leave my white Christmas tree up for the entire season! You see, last year I had a little, umm, disagreement with my new cat, Freeda. She decided that the tree was put up for her pleasure and she took great pleasure indeed from climbing it, clawing at the ornaments, chewing on the string of lights, and eventually toppling the entire thing over more than once. This all happened with in the first 24 hours of its emergence from the box. Sadly, for the safety of all concerned, I had to put the tree back in its box and enjoy Christmas without a Christmas tree. But, this year, the tree remained up. Freeda did crawl into it several times, but with more self-control and grace than before, so I considered this a healthy compromise. Continue reading

Creating Breakthroughs

Isn’t this the most beautiful thing you’ve seen all day? I think it is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen all year. This little doodle was drawn last week by a reluctant student of mine named Nathan. Nathan confessed to me later that it was the first thing he had drawn in over 25 years. Before that moment, 25 years ago, when he had decided not to trust his creative self anymore, he had been an accomplished artist. He was a prolific painter and portrait artist. At the same time he had also slowly been allowing his addiction to drugs and alcohol ravage his life. His addictions finally won the battle, and he had convinced himself that he would never be able to create again.

I had met with Nathan for the first time about a month ago. He was about six weeks into Continue reading

Your Creativity & The Moon Cycles (Part 8: The Balsamic Moon)

MoonCan you believe it has been less than a month since we started this Moon Cycle? It’s been quite a journey! This is what Conscious Creating is all about.

  • Checking in with your intentions every few days.
  • Staying open to opportunities that will help to manifest them.
  • Acting in alignment with your heart, mind, and soul.

It’s a powerful practice and one that can be used in so many areas of your life. Your increasing mindfulness bringing life and vitality to your creations and your day to day experiences. Ahhhhhhh!

So where are we now in the process? We are at the Balsamic Moon and the last phase of the Moon Cycle before we begin again with the next New Moon.

Just as balsamic vinegar is a potent and flavorful liquid produced through a reduction process, so is the Balsamic Moon phase a time for Continue reading

Your Creativity & The Moon Cycles (Part 4: The Waxing Gibbous Moon)

MoonWelcome to the Waxing Gibbous Moon phase! Hey, we’re getting close to the Full Moon now! So much closer… but not quite there yet! That’s how it feels when you’re growing. I welcome growth in my life, because it is through my growth experiences that I evolve. I understand that I am not just evolving for my own soul’s benefit, but I am evolving for my entire species! This excites me. I am a growth junkie, really. It’s why I spend my days creating stuff to share with you. You think it’s about you? Well, it is, but it’s also about me. Everything I create for you I have tested on myself first. I’m my own best lab rat. This moon phase is extra special to me, because I was born under a Waxing Gibbous Moon. So, basically, growth is part of my lunar nature.

(If you want to look up the lunar phase at the time of your birth, you can use this moon phase calculator: https://stardate.org/nightsky/moon)

So, back to you and your growth… How did it go over the past few days? Now is the time for some reflection, under the light of the Waxing Gibbous Moon. You took an exciting action recently that tossed you outside of your comfort zone. Ask yourself these questions in regard to the results of the action, but remember not to be Continue reading

Your Creativity & The Moon Cycles (Part 1: The New Moon)

MoonOften times, clients come to me with questions about their creative flow. They are particularly looking for ways to get back into the flow of their own creativity. They feel like they were in the flow and then suddenly they weren’t. Something feels amiss. They long to feel like they did when they first began a creative project, full of enthusiasm and excitement for what might unfold. Somewhere along the way, they “lost” it, and they can’t seem to find a way to get it back. Sometimes they seem a little surprised when I respond with: “When was the last time you looked up and asked the moon for help?”

Today begins a total Solar Eclipse and a New Moon! This presents me with the perfect opportunity to start an in-depth discussion about your creativity and how it relates to the cycles of the moon. When there is a Solar Eclipse paired with a New Moon you are presented with an amplified energetic opportunity. You can think of a Solar Eclipse as a giant reset button. The New Moon presents you with an opportunity to start something new, or refresh an old project. So in combination with the Solar Eclipse, you get a supercharged reset button to play with as you begin something new. Even if you are here with me in Las Vegas and can’t see it, that eclipse is still out there happening and that energy is available to us all!

Take a moment right now to ask yourself a few questions… How in tuned are you with the cycles of the moon? Are you surprised when you look up and suddenly notice the moon is round and full? Do you think, “Oh, look at that moon!” before casually forgetting about it again? Or do you track the moon, with your eyes and your soul. Do you feel its phases like the phases of your own psyche and emotions. Does your body swell when the moon grows full? Do you retreat into the darkness when the moon is in the shadow of the earth? Do you feel a closeness to the moon like your own inner knowing, like it is a part of you and you are a part of it, working in perfect synergy together? Continue reading
