3 Creative Ways to Bring Yourself Back To Gratitude Now

Gratitude is where the heart isGratitude is not just for the month of November anymore. Gratitude is a way of living life. If I choose to embrace gratitude every day and every moment, it will transform my experience of life. Gratitude is my number one focus for this next nine-year cycle. That’s right! I’m committing to feeling gratitude for whatever may come my way through 2025. Whew! I said it out loud. I wrote it down. I shared it on my blog! It has already begun to take effect.

If you choose to embrace gratitude every day and every moment, it will transform your experience of life.

When it comes to gratitude, there is no better time than the present to start implementing its power. Here are three quick and easy ways to get started.

Draw a heart.

You can do this. No matter what you are doing, you can stop for one moment right now and draw a heart. Use a scrap of paper. No paper? Draw one in the palm of your hand with your finger. As you do this, think about what is in the center of your own heart right now.

Take a look inside. Is there pain? Is there grief? Is there joy? Any feeling can be supported by gratitude. Whatever you are feeling there right now can share space with gratitude. Gratitude is the faithful friend by your side no matter what.

Even when you are experiencing bad feelings, gratitude can be present if you allow it to. I am feeling grief, but I am also feeling gratitude for having shared time and space with the one I now grieve for. I am feeling pain, but I am also feeling gratitude for my strength and resilience.

When I am feeling joy it is easy to feel gratitude for this. I embrace joy with gratitude even when I know that change is inevitable and that this feeling will pass as another feeling takes its place. As I experience the full range of human feelings, gratitude will be by my side showing me the way. Gratitude is where the heart is.

“I am so grateful for…”

Complete the sentence above. As long as I am alive and breathing, I am grateful for something. The more I say what I am grateful for (out loud) the more things I discover I am grateful for. Gratitude builds on itself. It may feel strange at first, but the more I do it, the more all those feelings (good or bad) become supported by gratitude.

Hug someone

I saved the best for last. There is always someone who needs your support as much as you need theirs. Discover who that person is now and reach out to them. The next time you see them, give them a hug. Tell them how grateful you are to have them in your life. Gratitude is expression. Never hold it inside. It is meant to be given.

I am grateful for you. Thank you for reading and supporting me on my journey. Please let me know in the comment section below if this exercise resonates with you and how you like to bring gratitude into your life.
