Greetings from sunny Las Vegas on this fine Summer Solstice! Let’s face it. It’s summer here and it’s hot. It’s 115 degrees hot, and that feels like stepping into an oven when you walk outside today. So on this beautiful Summer Solstice, this longest day of the year, my family and I will be celebrating indoors in the air-conditioned comfort of our home, sweet home. The music is resonating, the paints are out, the play-doh is being kneaded, the legos are assembling into magnificent creations, there are snacks in the fridge, and the cat is tucked in a ball for her third or fourth nap for the day.
Today is the two-year anniversary of moving into our home. I call it the Soul House. On the Summer Solstice two years ago I sat here alone in the living room with absolutely no furniture, not even a single box brought in yet, and I communed with this house. It went something like this… Continue reading
Welcome to the Last Quarter Moon phase. How did your “share” go? Who did you talk to about your reveal? More importantly, how did you inspire them? Through sharing, you are given the opportunity to sort through important details. When you told your story, which part of the story did you get really excited about? What part did you rush through because it was too boring? Yadda, yadda, yadda… What part made you take a moment to pause and reflect? And at what part did you see your listener’s jaw drop open?
Sharing your story and your creative process helps you to identify the “magic” bits and pieces. Important cues are being delivered to you through the energetic exchange of conversation. It is your job to pay attention, record, and contemplate this valuable feedback. Keep in mind that feedback is not limited to how the other person responds. How you provide yourself with feedback through your feelings as you experience the sharing process is just as valuable.
… and so goes the Waning Moon phase. The Waning phase from the Full Moon through to the next New Moon is all about clarification. This is the time to edit, to refine, to tie up any loose ends. It’s time to do what needs to be done in order to put a project to rest. Especially at the Last Quarter, the energetic nature is about change, possible conflict, and ultimately a significant shift of some kind. Continue reading
Here we are at the Full Moon! Not only a Full Moon, but one sporting a Lunar Eclipse! Much like the Solar Eclipse New Moon a few weeks ago, this Full Moon we will be given an extra special energetic boost due to the Lunar Eclipse. Emotions may run high so be prepared… for anything to happen! If you experience some powerful emotions your best course will be to avoid resistance, which we all know is futile anyway. Stay calm and receive what you are given with the spirit of gratitude and all will turn out just fine. Don’t forget that the Universe has always got your back.
Some people will swear up and down that the Full Moon brings out the crazy in people. I will argue that the crazy is always out there, energetically, it’s just that during the Full Moon you become more aware of it.
Think of it like this… You’re in your car and your driving along the open highway. I’m having a great déjà vu right now of Route 66 headed east through Arizona! You’ve got your favorite mix CD blaring as loud as you can stand it. You’re clipping along at least 55mph. You are overcome by the beautiful sunshine and you crack the driver’s side window to let in some fresh air (Crescent). There’s a whoosh sound as the air starts to make it’s way into your car. Here we are at the First Quarter Moon phase. What did you discover over the last few days during the Crescent Moon phase when you started saying, “yes!” more? What opportunities were delivered to you through your positive interactions? Now is the time to take inventory of any and all possible paths that have been presented and choose a purposeful action.
Remember the Game of Life? I used to love playing this game with my family. We had a stack of board games and on game night I would run and grab The Game of Life. It was my favorite and I didn’t mind how long it would take to get through the game, but other members of my family were not as eager to sit in a chair for the hour minimum it often required, so when I would bring it to the table I was often greeted with a few groans. If you’re not familiar with the game, I’ll take a moment to get you up to speed… So, there are these little car game pieces that you get and you are a peg person that sits in the car. At the beginning it’s just you and a windy road with several forks in it ahead of you. Each square ahead gives you instructions, which are basically life events to “experience.” The game is a good metaphor for what I’m suggesting because at the very beginning of the game you are presented with a big choice, whether to go left or right. Likewise, at the First Quarter Moon, you are presented with a choice. You need to choose one actionable item. And, it’s one that once you get to the end of the game and realize as you look back, made all the difference. Continue reading
Often times, clients come to me with questions about their creative flow. They are particularly looking for ways to get back into the flow of their own creativity. They feel like they were in the flow and then suddenly they weren’t. Something feels amiss. They long to feel like they did when they first began a creative project, full of enthusiasm and excitement for what might unfold. Somewhere along the way, they “lost” it, and they can’t seem to find a way to get it back. Sometimes they seem a little surprised when I respond with: “When was the last time you looked up and asked the moon for help?”
Today begins a total Solar Eclipse and a New Moon! This presents me with the perfect opportunity to start an in-depth discussion about your creativity and how it relates to the cycles of the moon. When there is a Solar Eclipse paired with a New Moon you are presented with an amplified energetic opportunity. You can think of a Solar Eclipse as a giant reset button. The New Moon presents you with an opportunity to start something new, or refresh an old project. So in combination with the Solar Eclipse, you get a supercharged reset button to play with as you begin something new. Even if you are here with me in Las Vegas and can’t see it, that eclipse is still out there happening and that energy is available to us all!
Take a moment right now to ask yourself a few questions… How in tuned are you with the cycles of the moon? Are you surprised when you look up and suddenly notice the moon is round and full? Do you think, “Oh, look at that moon!” before casually forgetting about it again? Or do you track the moon, with your eyes and your soul. Do you feel its phases like the phases of your own psyche and emotions. Does your body swell when the moon grows full? Do you retreat into the darkness when the moon is in the shadow of the earth? Do you feel a closeness to the moon like your own inner knowing, like it is a part of you and you are a part of it, working in perfect synergy together? Continue reading
When is your birthday? What is the number of the day you were born on? What does your birthday number tell you about you? Numerology is the belief in mystical relationships between numbers and events. Birth dates are often used to describe personality traits, karma, or the destiny of an individual. Personally, I find it fascinating. I also enjoy reading a good horoscope from time to time as well as indulging in other divination tools. Mostly I rely on my intuition to guide me, but sometimes, when the spirit moves me, I will look for messages in numbers.
This might just be my most self-indulgent post ever. Today is my birthday. I am now 45 years old. That’s a 9. (4+5 = 9). Today is the 9th of October. Another 9. When you add up all the numbers of my birthday… you get 9. It’s the number of my soul. It’s also the number of my life’s purpose. The numerology of my name, again, is a 9. Ever since January, I’ve been in a personal year of, you guessed it: 9. Guess what 2016 is? …9. Even in my CREATE! Program I write about the number 9 and how it relates symbolically to creativity.
9s always seem to pop up for me. Sometimes they arrive without much fanfare, and sometimes they kind of freak me out. Continue reading
