A Gift of Healing

For the remainder of the year I will be offering “Graceful Transformation: A Healing Coloring Journey” at a discounted price. This interactive coloring book for adults was developed from a creativity workshop with participants in addiction recovery. It was our collective intention that this book would be used to help others heal from past trauma and pain through mindful creating.

Recreate Your Creative Self

sun

As creative beings we were created to create. We are masters of our own transformations. These transformations can sometimes be long and arduous processes or they can occur suddenly and spontaneously like some sort of supernova of enlightenment. How do you define transformation? Does it have to be painful and time consuming? Does it have to mean that you face all that you cannot begin to fathom all at once? What if, transformation was as easy and flipping a light switch on the wall? What if you could achieve Continue reading

Finding A Mentor That Empowers You

©Bonnie Kelso & Creating Your Experience

This sounds like the perfect solution, doesn’t it? Just connect with the right person and all your problems will disappear. I mean look at all the people who have won the jackpot by getting the ear of Oprah for a moment or two. There is a catch, though, there always is. Do not be misled into believing that someone else can ever truly empower you.

The kind of empowerment that we are all really seeking, that which has the fortitude to change the world for the better, can only come from within.

Yes, there are people in the world who are incredibly influential. A person like Oprah has the power to make you suddenly be seen by a large number of people. Think of that for a moment. What would it be like to be seen this publicly? Is there anything you are not prepared to share? What is the value you place on your own privacy? What about the privacy of your loved ones? Creating Breakthroughs

Isn’t this the most beautiful thing you’ve seen all day? I think it is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen all year. This little doodle was drawn last week by a reluctant student of mine named Nathan. Nathan confessed to me later that it was the first thing he had drawn in over 25 years. Before that moment, 25 years ago, when he had decided not to trust his creative self anymore, he had been an accomplished artist. He was a prolific painter and portrait artist. At the same time he had also slowly been allowing his addiction to drugs and alcohol ravage his life. His addictions finally won the battle, and he had convinced himself that he would never be able to create again.

I had met with Nathan for the first time about a month ago. He was about six weeks into Continue reading

What Inspires You?

Faith Hope Love

What inspires you? What is it that gets you all excited about starting a new project or creating something in your life? Can you narrow it down to a few words? Inspiration comes from so many sources. It is all around you! If you could just open your eyes and see it, you would know that inspiration is everywhere and in every thing.

Some of you may know that I’ve been holding Creating Workshops at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission this past year. Working with the clients in addiction recovery there has been one of the most amazing and rewarding experiences of my life and I just wanted to tell you a little more about it.

Every day, the Las Vegas Rescue Mission feeds 1,000 people who are either homeless or in need. People begin to line up at the doors of the cafeteria hours before they open. Everyone who comes is fed, some only stay for a meal, but others stay to rebuild their shattered lives. There are almost 200 people Continue reading

It’s Never Too Late To Pursue Your Creative Dreams!

nevertoolate

Today I want to tell you about one of my current clients who has inspired me by the creating courage she has been able to tap into. This woman started my ACCESS! program six months ago. She hasn’t even finished the program yet, but the progress she’s made with revitalizing her creative power is so incredible and inspiring, that I felt obligated to share her compelling story with you.

Sharon is in her mid-70s. She has been retired from a very successful career for over eleven years now. She was the Executive Director of a quickly growing non-profit human services organization. Her passion for her work life stretched her personally in ways she never had thought were possible. Once a shy young girl, she stepped into the role of an outgoing, gregarious lobbyist who took any chance she got to publicly speak about her organization that she believed in so strongly.
